Er war Gewinner des Deutschen Dirigentenpreises und Finalist des Nestlé and Salzburg Festival Young Conductors Award. Leo hat auch eine enge Verbindung mit dem Alma Mahler Kammerorchester, einem Ensemble von Musikern aus europäischen Spitzenorchestern.
